The Inspection Services Department carries out the general health & safety inspections of occupancies requiring a health permit within the jurisdiction of the City of Nacogdoches. The primary function of the Health Inspector is the interpretation, inspection and field compliance efforts of the technical codes and laws. These codes and laws are Federal, State and Local. In addition the Health Inspector with support from the Inspection Services Department carries out the responsibility of data entry, account billing and record keeping.

NACOGDOCHES — A new round of health inspections for the week of April 24, 2026 shows a wide range of compliance among local restaurants, convenience stores, schools, and food trucks, with several businesses earning perfect scores while others were cited for sanitation, labeling, and equipment issues.
The inspections, conducted by health inspector Ke’, covered more than a dozen establishments across the city. Demerits ranged from 0 to 16, with the highest number issued to Nick’s #7 Valero on Douglass Road.

- Unlabeled spray bottle with blue solution
- Missing anti‑siphon valve on outside hose bibb

- Lack of accurate thermometers in coolers and freezers
- Ten prepackaged dairy products discarded
- Handwash sinks not properly stocked
- Dirty ice bin exterior and unclean shelving
