NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. invites the community to enjoy an evening of music, history, and comedy with a special performance of The Crash at Crush, a new musical comedy performed by Austin-based performance group Texas Comedies. The performance will take place Friday, May 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Historic Site, 324 N. Lanana Street in Nacogdoches.
The Crash at Crush is based on the incredible true story of a staged train crash near the temporary town of Crush, Texas. In 1896, railroad promoter William Crush organized a dramatic publicity stunt in which two
locomotives were sent hurtling toward each other on a single track before a crowd of more than 30,000 spectators. The spectacle, fueled by financial pressure, eccentric railroad employees, and even the promotional flair of the Ringling Brothers Circus, created a new form of mass entertainment and briefly made the town of
Crush the second-largest city in Texas for a single day. The musical comedy brings this unbelievable moment in Texas history to life with lively storytelling, humor, and a
live band. Texas Comedies previously performed their musical Bonnie and Clyde in Nacogdoches in May of last year, an event that drew an enthusiastic audience and received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community. Due to the success of that performance, Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. is pleased to bring the group back to present The Crash at Crush. Tickets are $10 and will be available beginning April 1 at Zion Hill Historic Site and online through Eventbrite.com.
The performance is free with priority seating for members of Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Nacogdoches through educational programs, community partnerships, and support for local historic
sites. For more information about the event or to learn how to become a member of Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc., please visit nactx.us/historic sites or call 936-560-4441.
