Health Inspection Report Week of 4/06/2025

The Inspection Services Department carries out the general health & safety inspections of occupancies requiring a health permit within the jurisdiction of the City of Nacogdoches. The primary function of the Health Inspector is the interpretation, inspection and field compliance efforts of the technical codes and laws. These codes and laws are Federal, State and Local. In addition the Health Inspector with support from the Inspection Services Department carries out the responsibility of data entry, account billing and record keeping.

Nacogdoches Health Inspections: One Restaurant Scores 29 Demerits, Others Earn Clean Reports

A recent round of health inspections in Nacogdoches resulted in a wide range of scores for local restaurants, grocery stores, schools, and food trucks, according to inspection documents. The reports include everything from minor facility repairs to significant food‑safety violations.

Guacamole’s Receives 29 Demerits, Highest of the Period

Guacamole’s, located at 1315 North Street, received the highest number of violations with 29 demerits across two pages of findings.

Inspectors cited issues including:

  • Uncovered foods and improperly stored employee drinks
  • Missing caps on cleaning chemicals
  • Lack of an anti‑siphon backflow preventer
  • No hot water at a men’s restroom handwashing sink
  • A walk‑in freezer needing cleaning
  • Old equipment needing disposal
  • Missing use‑by dates
  • Lack of visible thermometers for coolers and freezers
  • Blocked or improperly supplied handwashing sinks
  • Dead insects and debris on floors
  • Damaged wall and floor areas

One line from the report notes: “WALK IN FREEZER NEEDS TO BE CLEANED OUT” and “SWEEP UP DEAD INSECTS AND OTHER DEBRIS.”

Schools Score Well

All three NISD elementary cafeterias inspected—Mike Moses, Thomas J. Rusk, and Raguet—received just 1 demerit each, all related to minor facility repairs such as securing ceiling tiles or smoothing damaged floor areas.

Food Trucks Show Strong Compliance

Two food trucks earned near‑perfect scores:

  • Be Blessed BBQ0 demerits, with inspectors noting “100 percent compliant.”
  • Reed’s Fish and More2 demerits, corrected on site.
  • Taqueria Mi Rancho5 demerits, including repairs to sinks and hot water pressure.

One Business Earns a Perfect Score

Granary Health Food Store (4411 South Street) received 0 demerits, with the report stating: “100 percent compliant.”
