Funeral services for Billy Dale Cranford, 63, of Garrison will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Garrison Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Jerry Kirby. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Garrison Funeral Home. Mr. Cranford passed away on December 13, 2025, in Garrison surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 29, 1962, in Nacogdoches to James Troy and Avis Ruth (Sanders) Cranford.

Billy Dale Cranford, 63, of Garrison, Texas, passed away on December 13, 2025, in Garrison, surrounded by his loved ones.

Billy was born on March 29, 1962, in Nacogdoches, Texas to James Troy “Mutt” Cranford and Ruth Sanders Cranford.  He was born and raised in Nacogdoches County and graduated with honors from Garrison High School.

Following high school, Billy worked a variety of jobs, including construction and worked in chicken houses, before later becoming an oilfield pumper.  Billy was known for his honesty and being a hard worker. He loved the simple life. 

In earlier years, he loved roping, deer hunting and fishing. In recent years, porch sitting became his favorite pastime.  He especially enjoyed watching old westerns, with Gunsmoke being his favorite.  Billy had a deep love for animals and was known for taking in neighborhood dogs whenever he could.

Honest and down-to-earth best described Billy.  His heart was huge, filled with love, compassion and a giving spirit.  He will be remembered for his quiet nature, kind heart and genuine way of living.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, James Troy “Mutt” and Ruth Sanders Cranford and his brother-in-law, Robert Hartt.

He is survived by his children: Jami & wife Machael, Justin & wife Colby and Jordan & wife Brittani; grandchildren: Kinley, Kash, Kollyns, Saylor, John Brooks, Kage and Kutter Cranford; his brother, James “Buddy” Cranford & wife Patsy; his sister, Teresa Hartt; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends who will miss him greatly.

The family would like to extend special thanks to everyone who helped care for Billy during the last several years, especially Carla Harris and Crystal Fanguy, as well as many others.  Special thanks also to Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care.
