The Inspection Services Department carries out the general health & safety inspections of occupancies requiring a health permit within the jurisdiction of the City of Nacogdoches. The primary function of the Health Inspector is the interpretation, inspection and field compliance efforts of the technical codes and laws. These codes and laws are Federal, State and Local. In addition the Health Inspector with support from the Inspection Services Department carries out the responsibility of data entry, account billing and record keeping.

Nacogdoches Health Inspections: Food Trucks, Restaurants Earn Mostly Positive Marks
NACOGDOCHES, TX — The latest round of health inspections conducted by local officials between late October and early November 2025 revealed generally strong compliance among food establishments across Nacogdoches, with most businesses correcting minor issues on site and maintaining up-to-date documentation.
Among the highlights:
- Lovin From My Oven Food Truck, inspected during the SFA Parents Weekend Downtown Event, received just 2 demerits for a handwashing sink issue that was corrected immediately. The truck’s commissary and paperwork were fully compliant.
- Auntie Pasta’s Italian Restaurant at 211 Old Tyler Road was cited for 3 demerits, including missing thermometers in coolers and minor damage to walls and floors in the dining area. All issues were addressed on site. Its adjoining bar service earned a perfect score with zero demerits.
- Bottlecap Alley, located at 3203 North Street, received 5 demerits for obstructed access to a handwashing sink, missing refrigerator thermometers, and damaged flooring.
- Cotton Patch Café at 3117 North Street was issued 6 demerits, including discarded food items, cleanliness concerns near fryers, and damaged flooring. Inspectors also noted missing use-by dates on sliced turkey.
- Donut Palace (South Street location) earned 3 demerits for improperly stored scoops, cooler cleanliness, and floor damage.
- Butcher Boy’s, at 603 North Street, received the highest number of demerits—9 total—due to missing thermometers, discarded milk, hair restraint violations, and sanitation issues. All critical concerns were corrected during inspection.
- Feed Lot, located at 3813 Northwest Stallings Drive, was cited for 7 demerits, including outdated sink setups and damaged flooring and countertops.
- HTeaO, at 123 East Austin, and Auntie Pasta’s Bar both earned perfect scores with zero demerits, demonstrating full compliance with health standards.
- El Lindo Mexico, at 1102 Southeast Stallings Drive, received 12 demerits—the highest of this inspection cycle. Issues included food storage violations, plumbing concerns, improper use of handwashing sinks, and damaged ceiling and floor tiles. Several items were corrected on site.
Health inspectors emphasized that most violations were minor and corrected promptly, reflecting a strong commitment to food safety among local operators.
