During the week of September 7-12, 2025, Officer Atticus Shelton received a national award for the largest reported prescription medication seizure to the National Interdiction Network in 2024.
The seizure was for 48 gallons of Promethazine in 2024 located during a traffic stop. The award was presented during the conference hosted by Desert Snow and the National Criminal Enforcement Association (NCEA) in Charleston, SC that was attended by interdiction teams across the country.
One picture is with Robert O’Neill, the member of SEAL Team 6 who shot and killed Osama Bin Laden. In the formal picture the plaque was presented by Douglas Wright, NIC Program Manager, at the awards banquet.
The guest of honor was Devarjaye “DJ” Daniels. During a mass swearing in ceremony led by Mike Lewis. DJ was sworn in as an Honorary Member of the Nacogdoches Police Department. DJ was presented with a plaque signed by Chief Weems and a plaque made with an NPD patch. DJ is the 13 year old cancer patient who has wanted to be sworn in by as many police departments as possible. He’s been sworn in by over 4,000 departments at this time.
