Junior Engineer Days return this summer to the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot, offering a fun and educational experience for children ages 2 to 10. Held every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., from June 5 through August 7, this come-and-go program invites families to enjoy themed crafts, snacks, and weekly activities like
sing-alongs and story time. It’s a great way for families to explore the historic depot, make new friends, and enjoy hands-on, creative play. This year’s program also features special guest presenters throughout the summer, including Nacogdoches Fire & Rescue, the Texas Forestry Museum, and more—offering exciting, interactive experiences for young visitors and their families. Junior Engineer Days are made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Nacogdoches Junior Forum, whose
support helps provide free activities, craft supplies, and snacks each week.
For families who can’t make it to Junior Engineer Days, the fun doesn’t stop there. Train-themed activity stations will be set up throughout the depot and available all summer long during regular hours, Thursday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. These interactive stations include toy trains, train puzzles, books, and games,
providing a great indoor option for families looking to beat the heat while enjoying hands-on, self-guided play in a historic setting. Located at 101 Old Tyler Road, the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot is a historic site built by the Southern Pacific Railroad and now serves as a museum celebrating local railroad history. Admission is free, and supplies are available while they last. Large groups (10+) should schedule in advance at (936) 560-4441 or historicsites@nactx.us
