Nacogdoches Arts Collaborative Update

All systems are GO for our 2nd annual “Amethyst Ball: Under the Big Top!”  This year’s event is circus & carnival themed to highlight the current exhibition at NAC “Nacogdoches Carnival Oddities” paintings by Michelle Filer.  The show is open through Saturday, Feb. 3 and then the paintings move to Mast Hall windows for the big event February 10.

Attendees are encouraged to come costumed in the circus theme, or just sparkle on the dance floor. In addition to carnival-themed light appetizers, the evening will feature performances by the Skyborne Aerial Studio and Gobel School of Dance, carnival games, a rocking 1970s-2020’s playlist for dancing and an auction featuring original art from many local favorite artists and other fun experiences.

We are proud to be the first non-profit offering artists 50% of the proceeds from the sale of their donated original art.  We at NAC want to be the people who pay artists for their work!  The auction goes live online Monday, February 5.  Tickets are $45 single or $80 for a couple and are on sale now at www.nacartscollab.com.  Volunteer opportunities are also available.

Thank you to our sponsors:  Sean Hightower, Jerry Permenter, Fredonia Brewery, Front Porch Distillery, SuSu’s Popcorn, Pemberley’s Tea Room, and K’s Cookies.

Our new location at 411 E. Hospital Street hosted the first of a new series of monthly parking lot vendor fairs.  On Saturday, January 20 eight vendors participated and were moved inside due to freezing temperatures.  The next vendor event is planned for February 24.  To sign up go here: https://forms.gle/mR7VWLmHcwC4GCvp6.

NAC also hosted donation-based yoga sessions every Friday in December and a “Dancing Mindfulness” session followed by art making on Sunday, January 14.  Stay tuned for more fun opportunities at our new location.
