Obituary

Harry Clinton Manning, age 90, of Henderson, Texas passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at his home. He was born December 14, 1932, in Appleby, Texas to parents Zadie Looney Manning Brown and Harry Neirmeir Manning.

Harry was a proud United States Navy veteran, retiring after 22 years of service. He then went on to serve for 36 years in law enforcement for the LaPorte Police Department, Nacogdoches Police Department, and the Nacogdoches County Sherriff’s Department. He was lifelong Shriner & Master Mason, a member of the Valley of Houston Orient of Texas, USS Tidewater AD31 Association, USS Boston Association, and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed motorcycles, fast cars, and mowing his lawn.

Mr. Manning was preceded in death by his parents, Zadie Brown and Harry Neirmeir Manning.

He is survived by his best friend, soul mate, and wife of 50 years, Linda Manning; daughters, Jennifer Johnson and husband John Wayne I. Johnson and DeLisa Manning and husband Craig Hollingsworth; sons, Kyle “K.C.” Manning and wife Kim and Michael Manning and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Kali Johnson, Aaron Hollingsworth, Crystal Osborn, Ryan Powell, Jacob Powell, Caleb Powell, and Tanner Powell; and a great-granddaughter, Analysse Manning.

A visitation will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors. Harry will be laid to rest in Bethel Cemetery in Appleby.

Serving as honor guard will be the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department and the United States Navy. Pallbearers will be K.C. Manning, Daniel Parris, Jacob Powell, Tanner Powell, John Wayne I. Johnson, Logan Box, and Chris Irvin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Wounded Warrior Project, or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
