STEPHENVILLE, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Tarleton State, 3-1 in the first game of the final regular season series. SFA improves to 26-21 (14-8 WAC) and Tarleton falls to 29-25 (12-10 WAC).
Kelby Robbins started the scoring in the fourth inning with a two-run home run to put the ‘Jacks up 2-0. The final two runs of the game were also home runs, one was hit by Mikaelah Burkland and one by ACU’s Katy Schaefer as the ‘Jacks took game one by a score of 3-1.
Robbins, Burkland, and Mackenzie Bennett all recorded a hit. Robbins led the team with two RBIs, and Burkland recorded the other. Brooke Gainous pitched her 12th complete game of the season, only allowing four hits, one run, and struck out two batters.
Due to inclement weather, the second game of the doubleheader that was scheduled for Friday night will now be played on Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. followed by the series finale at 1:30 p.m.
