Nacogdoches ISD unveiled on Thursday its latest completed construction project. The ribbon cutting hosted by Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce served as a grand opening ceremony for the newly renovated Fredonia Early Childhood Center.
Beginning in August, the former elementary campus will serve Pre-K students in the district. Capacity is at 350 students.
In February 2022, TCMC Commercial LP was approved by NISD Board of Trustees for the $3.8 million renovation project. Work on the project, which was designed by Nacogdoches architect Army Curtis, remodeled classrooms, installed new flooring in the facility and tended to other details in the campus.
Renovation of the Fredonia campus for use as an early childhood center is part of the $77.9 million bond package approved by NISD voters in November of 2018.
The same bond proposal has funded construction of a new Emeline Carpenter Elementary, the Malcolm Rector Center for Advanced Careers & Innovation at Nacogdoches High School, expansion of McMichael Middle School and renovation and expansion of the district’s transportation center along with other priority maintenance projects in the district. Work continues on renovation of the press box facility at Dragon Stadium, which will be completed this fall.
