Nacogdoches chamber welcomes two new team members
(Nacogdoches, TX – Nov. 20, 2023) New staff members have joined the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce team. Managing the chamber’s daily finances is now Missy Manning, and hired for a newly created Program and Event Director position is Malisha Wheeler.
Welcome Missy Manning
Missy Manning has more than 25 years experience with bookkeeping and office management. She began her work with financial management at the Nacogdoches County Chamber in September. Ms. Manning and her husband Jeff moved from California to Nacogdoches two years ago.
“Moving to Texas was a good decision for us,” Manning said. “With my father being a Texan, and my momma being an Okie, it was an easy decision to settle in the Lone Star State. We targeted the green pastures of East Texas. When we drove down Hwy. 21 and hit the brick streets of Nacogdoches, we fell in love.”
Welcome Malisha Ann Wheeler
Newest in the chamber office is Program and Event Director Malisha Ann Wheeler. Ms. Wheeler grew up in Crosby and has enjoyed visiting family in Nac all her life. She has experience in commercial procurement, executive assistant and project management. She will play a role in the execution and advancement of the chamber’s and the Nacogdoches County Chamber Foundation’s programs and events.
“I moved to Nacogdoches in 2021 with an intention of returning to the Houston area, but this town offered a new beginning for me. While working with the Christian Women’s and Men’s Job Corp., I found a new purpose. The country life and being near my cousins is rejuvenating, and I greet each day with a smile and a skip in my step,” Wheeler said.
Through Dec. 31, the Nacogdoches County Chamber office will be staffed by Information Coordinator Sharon Hurst, Membership & Retention Shari Williams, COO Kelly Augustine, President/CEO C. Wayne Mitchell along with Manning and Wheeler.
