Nacogdoches man charged with five felonies in sexual assault case

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas – Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a county resident on five felony charges Monday as the result of an investigation into allegations of sexual assault. Johnathan Dereck Rogers, 26, was booked into the Nacogdoches County jail on three second-degree felonies for indecency with a child – sexual contact, two third-degree felonies for indecency with a child, and a first-degree felony for sexual performance of a child. One victim is under 10 years old and the other is under 5 years old. NCSO investigators secured warrants for Rogers’ arrest after information was developed that he allegedly assaulted two
children on separate occasions. Probable cause was developed during the investigation and forensic interviews were conducted by staff members at Harold’s House. Under the Texas Penal Code, second-degree felonies are punishable by between two and 20 years incarceration and up to $10,000 in fines. Third-degree felonies are punishable by between 180 days and two years incarceration and a fine up to $10,000. The NCSO investigation in this incident is ongoing.
