A Nacogdoches County man was arrested early Thursday morning on felony charges of possession of child pornography.

Around 6 a.m., investigators with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and Lufkin Police Department executed a search warrant in the 5200 block of South Street, and took Candelario Ortega, 23, into custody on two warrants for possession of child pornography. Both charges are second-degree felonies.

The information the warrants was based on was developed by NCSO investigators, and provided to DPS investigators, who will pursue the charges against Ortega.

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program, and works closely with other ICAC agencies around the state and country to pursue and bring to justice criminals who use the internet to prey on our youth.

The sheriff’s office is grateful for the assistance of DPS, and the help of the Lufkin Police Department in this case.
